EA unveils a new design for FIFA.

EA has begun preparations for this year's rebranding, leaving FIFA, soccer's world governing body, in the dust to brand the series as EA Sports FC (opens in new tab). A new press release (opens in new tab) and the official website (opens in new tab) promise a logo, a bunch of marketing jargon about the glories of soccer, and the first detailed look at the series, which was retitled in July.

"In the coming days, the EA Sports FC brand will debut in more than 100 matches in the world's biggest leagues," EA warns, adding that EA has contracts with the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, WSL, NWSL, CONMEBOL, and more. The company has contracts with all major leagues in the world, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, WSL, NWSL and CONMEBOL. In addition to this, EA Sports also has contracts with individual teams and players that faithfully recreate FC life.

EA is committed to this new era, which they call "a future where the fans come first." I'm not sure what that means, but it's lip service that usually works in football circles, and a bit of a distraction from the endless amounts of money being poured into this. The press release contains lengthy comments from various soccer insiders about how great EA Sports FC will be.

Thought the logo was just a logo? The new brand "draws design inspiration directly from the beautiful game and the dominant shape of soccer culture, the triangle, which is a multidimensional representation of the sport.

Triangles? The passing triangle is a key element of soccer (often considered key to the Dutch "total football" style of the 1970s), and EA is taking this further: "From the isometric angles of our first 8-bit experience, all of our latest games triangular polygons that make up the pixels, to the iconic player indicator symbols that appear above every player in every game.

Hmm. The important point here is that EA is dancing around a bit, but players should not expect a new game: this will be something like an iterative improvement on last year's installment, typical of the recent "FIFA" series, but of course, it will still be the best soccer game But of course, it will still be the best soccer game ever made. One of the few specific details included in this release is a reference to the "chemical triangle present in Ultimate Team," FIFA's most profitable mode, which of course was always something that kept coming back, but hand in hand, this is evolution, not revolution The emphasis is on the fact that this is not a revolution, but an evolution. [Irony aside, EA has done a tremendous job of weaving this video game series into a real-world sport. Because, irony aside, EA has done a tremendous job of weaving this video game series into real-world sports. In a match a few months ago, a Bath City player absolutely slipped up on a great chance (something that sadly happens all the time in Rome).

EA Sports FC's status and future success is now assured. Meanwhile, FIFA continues to lose its way. President Gianni Infantino declares that only games bearing the FIFA name are "THE BEST" (opens in new tab) (emphasis added) and tries to blow his own kneecaps off with a truly laughable tie-in (opens in new tab) for the Qatar World Cup.
