Pour on the Diablo 3 as Blizzard prepares for its final new season!

After 11 years, Diablo 3 is the closest Diablo game has come to an ending. The next season, Season 29, will be Blizzard's last opportunity to introduce new features and cosmetics to the game. Future seasons will reuse or remix features and rewards from the past nine years as development resources migrate to Diablo 4.

In a group interview with Wowhead (opens in new tab), Diablo 4 General Manager Rod Fergusson said that the upcoming season "will not be as rich as season 28, which introduced the entire skill tree system to the game." He stated.

The Diablo 3 season challenged players to play the game with fresh characters, making unique changes to the usual mechanics of action RPGs. These changes included periodic buffs when attacking enemies, higher multiplier Treasure Goblins, and stacking buffs when aggressively beating demons to death.

Diablo 3 players have been doing it for a whopping nine years, earning cosmetic rewards and leaderboard rankings. While that will continue to be possible in the future, no new ones will be offered in future seasons.

But the Diablo game will never truly die; Diablo 2 has been remastered and relaunched as Diablo 2: Resurrected, with many players participating in their own version of the season, called Ladder. There is also a fairly recent post on the Diablo 1 subreddit (opens in new tab) by a player discussing rare items.

Diablo 4 will take over Diablo 3's season and completely rework the endgame system, which was revealed this week (opens in new tab) Diablo 4 will feature a new paragon system that gradually increases stats, more hardcore difficulty and rewards for nightmare dungeons, and a number of daily quests to complete for a chance at rare loot. All of these will be tied to Diablo 4 seasons and season battle passes. All of these will begin after Diablo 4 launches on June 6.
