Sons of the Forest" developer has "big plans" for AI buddies Kelvin and Virginia.

Community Q&A held on Discord and Reddits for Sons of the Forest (opens in new tab) has reached developers; details discussed about the future of Sons of the Forest are fairly sparse, but Endnight can definitively confirm There are a couple of very specific parts.

"We have big plans to keep adding tasks that Kelvin can handle. Some ideas in progress include having him help build a wall around the base and fortifying/repairing the base when needed. For Virginia, we plan to add more A.I. In particular, they will be braver if they have weapons, and it will depend on how many mutants and cannibals they have defeated," Endnight said about the popular companion in a Q&A answer.

Endnight also mentioned that more SotF story details and cutscenes will be added, that they would like to add tools to limit griefing on public servers, that more crafting items will likely be added in the future, that there will be more variations of cannibal camps, and that at least one enemy character was not ready for launch. He also confirmed that a dedicated server is "something we are working on behind the scenes, but we don't have an exact date yet."

One of the things that surprised Endnight was how many players wanted to see the return of the log sleigh from the original game, The Forest." This is one of the really cool things about Early Access." Internally, we didn't realize that people really liked the log sleigh and we weren't sure if it was worth bringing it back because of the amount of bugs it had in the first game, but in the last week since release it became clear that it was something players missed."[7 8]

The full community Q&A and answers can be seen in the video on YouTube (opens in new tab). As an aside, I love seeing the "SotF" community taking the initiative to collect questions for the developers. I love being a journalist, but I also love it when the community does its own journalism!

There are a lot of fairly blanket answers, which is consistent with Endnight's policy of not giving specific answers to requests or requests for game features that they cannot promise to implement. Most interesting is the request for a "faster means of transportation" to be used when moving around the island, to which Endnight states that he has an idea but makes no promises. He said, "We have some really cool ideas, but I don't want to get into the details because they may not be as fun as we think they are or they may not work well with the environment.

In other Sons of the Forest news, it's being called the funniest game on the Internet right now (opens in new tab), and someone has already speed-run it in nine minutes (opens in new tab).
