The release of Bedrock, a world editor mode for Minecraft, has been announced.

First reported by Eurogamer (opens in new tab), a Minecraft-focused account by the name of Roger Badgerman (opens in new tab) shared a 45-second clip of the supposed Minecraft world editor.

The innovation here would be to implement such a feature in Minecraft Bedrock (the multiplatform retail version), which has propelled Minecraft to superstar heights on the tablets of nephews and cousins around the world, as Eurogamer notes As Eurogamer notes, such a feature has long been suggested by data mining, as in a post by Minecraft add-on developer SmokeyStack (opens in new tab). [This type of tool has been included in many of the community's impressive viral builds and premium purchases in the in-game store for Bedrock editions.

Badgerman's clip also shows an intuitive brush-like tool for crafting blocks in the Minecraft world, and demonstrates copying and pasting everything from individual blocks to massive structures Badgerman captured. While the functionality is impressive, there has been no official announcement from Microsoft as to when such functionality is scheduled to be included in Bedrock.
