Genshin Impact's latest character is so incredibly underpowered that players around the world are begging developer MiHoYo to fix it.

After fans were already unimpressed with her leaked abilities, Dehya was released last week under a new banner for the gacha game (she will then permanently move to the standard banner), and the 5-star Pyro character turned out to be even worse than predicted.

Dehya's AoE fire damage and autopilot ultimate attacks (bursts) do pathetic damage and have poor synergy with other characters. Simply jumping or hitting a wall during a burst cancels it, wasting potential damage. MiHoYo has only buffed one underpowered character (opens in new tab) during Genshin's two-year lifespan, despite frequent cries from players wanting a new favorite meta. But still, people are rallying around the #FixDehya (opens in new tab) hashtag on social media, trying to convince developers that they need help.

Fans have posted images (opens in new tab) listing desirable buffs to make Dehya fit for phantom elemental reaction-based combat. For example, during her bursts, her attacks count as burst attacks and cannot induce additional damage from other characters like Yeran or Hokuto, whose reactions require normal attacks. Combined with her low damage output, there is little reason to use her over other pyro characters.

"I see a lot of sentiment that the possibility of Dehya being fixed is impossible and all for naught," wrote Reddit user SadMountainofSalt (opens in new tab) in a lengthy Reddit post explaining how to spread the word about Dehya " I am here to tell you that you actually have a better chance than you probably think.

"Fixing Dehya is not a matter of "they can't" or "they won't," but a matter of showing that we deserve better."

The post encourages people to email MiHoYo, use the in-game suggestion box, post on social media with the hashtag #FixDehya, and alert influencers and press. Several people in the thread have posted screenshots of their emails (opens in new tab) and customer service responses (opens in new tab), many of which state that feedback will be passed on to the development team.

On Sunday, Genshin Impact's Twitter page posted Deheer's art (opens in new tab) to celebrate 5 million followers. Below the tweet were hundreds of replies asking MiHoYo to fix Dehya, many of which included images with proposed changes.

"Thanks for commissioning a picture with our girl Dehya, now fix her," wrote one Twitter user (opens in new tab).

Chinese (open in new tab) and Japanese (open in new tab) players have also started posting #FixDehya.

While avid phantom players often find reasons to complain that new characters don't fit in at higher levels of play, Dehya's problems include her attacks missing nearby targets (opens in new tab) and her skills not working (opens in new tab), and open in a new tab) and her skills not working (open in a new tab). Some fans are more upset about what doesn't seem to have been properly tested prior to release than her place in the meta. Others are happy that they were lucky enough to pull their new favorite character (opens in new tab).

MiHoYo has no comment on Dehya, but I have contacted the developer and will update this article if I hear back.
