Capcom has released the demo for the "Resident Evil 4" remake that was announced in February. It's called the "Chainsaw Demo," a great name for a demo, probably named in honor of the burlap sack-wearing villain who attacks Leon with a chainsaw.
That's just as well, because the centerpiece of the "Chainsaw Demo" is that infamous early encounter. The roughly hour-long demo begins at the beginning of the game and continues through the village fiasco with Ganado and his men aiming stone axes at Leon. I played a bit, got beat up by the aforementioned burlap sack boy, and exited the game.
It definitely looks the part, and I can confirm that there are no major deviations from the original as far as the moment-to-moment events early in the game. Our preview follows the same and has much more to say in this regard. It's been more than a decade since I last played it, but it feels like a modern horror game now, just as the remakes of "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil 3" did.
Graphics options are plentiful, and I did not feel inconvenienced while playing the demo. Notable options include:
The demo can be played all the way through, so there is no need to rush to play it before the March 24 release of Resident Evil 4. There is also no time limit. It's just a small portion of the game, but you can play it as long as you want.
