Runescape's famously salty players get their 20,000 hour "skiller" accounts hacked, renamed to "same password everywhere" and reap the rewards.

In a series of events like the Big Password Manager marketing campaign, an Old School Runescape player with over 20,000 hours playing a single character has had his account stolen by hackers.GamesRadar (new tab opens in new tab) reports that Diddeboy, a notorious and not particularly beloved member of the Runescape community, recently woke up to find that his maxed-out "skiller" account had been stolen. To make matters worse, the person who stole this account has rubbed salt in the wound by changing the name from Diddeboy1 to "same password everywhere."

For those of you who are not familiar with Runescape terminology, a Scylla account (open in new tab) is basically a kind of quasi-peacemaker, a self-imposed challenge in which the player tries to maximize his skill level while remaining at the lowest possible combat level 3 in the game According to Diddeboy, they have spent 20,000 hours doing just that, and have dedicated 8,000 hours (open in new tab) just to maximize the Slayer skill set in the game (how to maximize the skill set named "Slayer" without increasing combat rank, of course, cleaning lamp (open in new tab)).

However, a Runescape player who checked the current status of Diddeboy's account on Reddit (opens in new tab) noted that its combat status appears to be rising rapidly. It appears that the hacker has indeed ended Diddeboy's more than two-year-long fighting streak.

It is unclear if the hack was an attack of opportunity or a more targeted attack, but since Diddeboy is not well received in the Runescape community, the attack may have been more likely.

As a top Runescape killer, they are notorious among players for criticizing game changes that "trump (open in new tab)" all the time spent cleaning lamps, and others have criticized Diddeboy for "ragging" other players' achievements (open in new tab) on their Scylla accounts. open in new tab), recalling when he showed up to "rag on" them; others have found no small amount of grief over Diddeboy's current misfortunes.

"He was a little insufferable about his accomplishments," said a Reddit user named NotTheBeeze (open in new tab).

At some point, it appears that hackers also gained access to Diddeboy's Twitter account (opens in new tab), presumably because he used the same password everywhere, but Twitter was quicker to respond to their pleas than Runescape developer Jagex They seem to have responded. The hacker's tweets have been deleted and the Twitter account is now silent, but it does not yet appear that Diddeboy has regained access to Runescape.

There has been no mention of a show of mercy from Jagex and a rollback of his account to its pre-hack combat level. If Jagex is going to show mercy, it should first oblige Diddeboy to get a Bitwarden account.
