After releasing hotfix driver version 531.26 (opens in new tab) last week, Nvidia is now working on a final and complete fix for a bug that was causing Nvidia's Container software to continue to hog CPU resources when exiting games with a full A full WHQL release has been implemented.
As previously reported, there were existing workarounds (open in new tab), such as rolling back to a previous driver or opening the Nvidia Container task cap in Task Manager.
The Nvidia bug was one half of a pair of nasty driver updates by Nvidia and AMD; if the Nvidia bug was a minor inconvenience, the AMD glitch could actually lead to a corrupted Windows installation (opens in new tab) . Unpleasant.
To be fair to AMD, their problems seemed to be the result of Windows Update's eagerness to update, whatever its impact, rather than AMD's poorly written code. AMD itself has been working with Windows Update and conflicts with Windows Update.
"We recommend that you make sure that all system updates are applied or paused before installing the driver, and that the "Factory Reset" option is unchecked during the AMD driver installation process. .
