Asus recently announced its latest high-end motherboard, the ROG Strix X670-E, an AM5 motherboard capable of overclocking Ryzen 7000 series CPUs as well as supporting 192GB DDR5 RAM.
A few hours ago, information about the capacity of this new motherboard began to spread on the ROG Forum (open in new tab) (via Videocardz (open in new tab)), and user Raja@ASUS posted some benchmarks that prove it. As a member of the company's technical marketing team, Raja had the opportunity to test the motherboard's four DIMM slots with a total of 192GB (4x48GB) of DDR5-2600 RAM; Asus has now updated its product page (opens in new tab) to match this capability, It seems to promise the possibility of up to DDR5-6400+ overclocking.
This means that we finally have a motherboard that can take full advantage of the recently announced Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-7000 RAM kit (opens in new tab) with up to 192GB capacity.
If you are looking to upgrade, Corsair's updated Vengeance DRAM capacities include a 96GB (48GB x 2) kit and a slightly more realistic 48GB (24GB x 2) kit The 96GB kit is clocked at 5,600 MT/s and the 48GB kit is 5,200 MT/s. At the top end, it will be 5,200 MT/s as well.
Currently, this new kit's little sister, the Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-4800MHz, is in third place in our DDR5 RAM for budget systems (open in new tab) guide thanks to its £120/$109 price tag. This kit can easily be overclocked to 5,200 MHz, but imagine what this new kit could do if it were mounted on Asus' latest enthusiast motherboard. This new DRAM kit is a bit more expensive due to the 1.5x clock speed, but there is a small discount for non-RGB models.
The Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-7000 RAM kit starts at £290/$285 for the 48GB (open in new tab) version and goes up to £755/$750 for the 192GB (open in new tab) full size (RGB on of course) The price is £755/$750. In other words, this top-end DRAM kit combined with the new Asus ROG Strix X670-E motherboard will run you about £1,320/$1,250 total.
