The upcoming FPS convinced me with "fully simulated centrifugal gravity space station level".

The developers behind Fortune's Run (opens in new tab) have announced that the game will be available in Early Access from July through September. This "ridiculously huge, fully simulated centrifugal gravity space station (opens in new tab)" features the appearance of a fully modeled space background, which I think is a fascinating departure from the game's demo level, "Trouble at Club V'heni."

The trailer weaves in hydroponic labs, long maintenance shafts, and enemy roaming living quarters to the game's breakcore soundtrack. The station's exterior is detailed, and one hopes that as part of this mission, we'll get to do a bit of extra-vehicular activity in the jet-black universe. Either way, I'm just happy to finally see a new stage for the pulse-pounding swordplay of "Fortune's Run."

There's also a post on Team Fortune's Twitter page showing what you can do on this space station. The clip (which opens in a new tab) shows the main character, Moza, going inside the hydroponic system, shutting off the fire suppression system, cutting open a pipe full of fertilizer, and setting it on fire, causing an uncontrolled fireball in the pressurized environment. Meanwhile, you have to cut through bulkheads by hand with a blowtorch (open with new tab) to reveal hidden pathways inside the facility.

Team Fortune also shares some insights into the new enemy design, including how the fully modeled 3D characters are converted into pre-rendered 2D sprites (opens in new tab), creating the game's unique throwback look There is also a post that goes on to say. I'm a big fan of this candy red dark trooper-looking guy and his hilarious animated (opens in new tab) cinematic intro.

Of course, I'm excited about the space station level, but an even bigger takeaway might be the promised train level. I can't reveal too much in these early screens (open in new tab), but I already have images in my head of the train missions in "Jedi Academy" and "Blood. Or the morbid underground trams in "Wolfenstein: The New Colossus," with skyboxes instead of darkness.

Fortune's Run is one of our most anticipated games for 2023 (open in new tab) since it blew us away with last fall's Realms Deep demo (open in new tab), and we cannot wait to try more levels of this impressive and singular shooter! We can't wait to try more levels of this impressive and singular shooter. You can currently wishlist the game on Steam (opens in new tab), and you can also check out the official Game Magazine Throwback site (opens in new tab).
