GOG's Spring Sale Starts with Free Games

I look out the window and there's snow on the ground. Nevertheless, spring sales are just around the corner: Steam's big sale (with discounts for the first time ever on Steam Deck (opens in new tab)) started last week, and now GOG has launched its own spring sale (opens in new tab).

Lorelei is the conclusion to a trilogy of adventure games that began in 2012 with The Cat Lady and continued through 2016 with Downfall. The Cat Lady is dark and strange, but very well done, and the second and third installments complete it beautifully.

"'Downfall' and 'Lorelei' each feature a character from 'Cat Lady' and really delve into what that eldritch bum, the maggot queen and the crow, and some new freaky friends are," we wrote in our 2020 retrospective (opens in new tab). It's "dark, weird, a little rough around the edges, but most of all it's serious and beautiful.

("The Cat Lady" (opens in new tab) and "Downfall" (opens in new tab) are both available on GOG, but "Lorelai" works just fine as a standalone game.)

To get Lorelai for free, simply jump to GOG (opens in a new tab), scroll down the front page a bit until you see the "Add to Library" button, and click on it. Congratulations, you have now received a free copy of "Lorelei.

Since we're at it, here's the first of our "Deals of the Day."

These particular sale prices will be available until Wednesday, at which point a new pack o' deals will step in to take their place. Lorelei's freebie will run through March 23, and finally, the GOG Spring Sale itself will run through April 3.
