Park Beyond, a gravity-defying park sim, opens beta ahead of June release.

Having played "Theme Parks" many times in the 90's, I feel qualified to say that running a real-life theme park would suck. It might make money, but it wouldn't be fun. There would be lots of vomit, and thrill-seekers would be more likely to complain. However, I feel that if the theme park were not bound by the rampant laws of gravity, as in "Park Beyond" (opens in new tab), I could get used to the vomiting and bitching.

The release date for "Park Beyond," originally scheduled for early this year, has been set for June 16. Prior to that, a closed beta will run from May 9 to May 19. To register for the closed beta test, click here (opens in new tab).

Park Beyond is indeed a management sim, but what I'm most interested in is actually building rides. Interestingly, it is not only rides that can be built that are bizarre. You also have to manage visitors' nausea and, even more interestingly, their neuphoria.

Visitors can also explore the park from their perspective, and for those who don't like cleaning up spew, there is a sandbox mode where they can experiment without worry. Fraser told Limbic Entertainment of "Tropico 6" about the game a few years ago (opens in new tab). Fraser wrote, "Instead of building the kind of park you'd like to visit, you can build one filled with near-impossible rides that probably don't exist in the real world."
