Forspoken DLC to be released 25 days after Square Enix kills developer

Good news: Forspoken's DLC will be released earlier than the previously anticipated "summer 2023" date. It will be released on May 26, 25 days after the game's developer, Luminous Productions, was swallowed by Square Enix (open in new tab) and disappeared for good.

In Tanta We Trust DLC, Frey travels back in time to the "Reddig's Purge" that took place 25 years before the base game. You will have new abilities, new friends, and new heights of "vertically designed unique environments". You will likely continue to talk to Cuffe.

It's a bit of a parting song for Forspoken, which was sidelined by Square Enix (open in new tab) shortly after its release due to "challenging" reviews from critics and audiences and overall "lackluster" sales. Just a month after the game's release, Square Enix announced that it would absorb the game's developer.

It's a shame, because PCG's Mollie Taylor gave Forspoken a score of 65% in her review (opens in new tab), and after everything Luminous has learned from Forspoken's development, it will be interesting to see what they can do with their new project. I would have liked to have seen, and this DLC is probably the closest thing to it. Call me cynical, but I don't think this one DLC is going to change my opinion of Forspoken as a whole 180 degrees.

Forspoken's In Tanta We Trust DLC will be available on Steam (opens in new tab), Epic Games Store (opens in new tab), and Microsoft Store (opens in new tab) upon release on May 26. Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition will get it three days earlier, on May 23.
