The Last of Us Part 1 had a rough go of it when it made its long-awaited debut on PC earlier this year (opens in new tab), with nearly 9,700 user reviews on Steam currently showing an overall rating of "mostly negative," a very The reaction was unexpected.
A hot fix (open in new tab) was released on March 29, the day after The Last of Us Part 1 appeared on Steam, focusing primarily on "stability and performance improvements, and other small improvements."
The patch notes for that hotfix were virtually useless, stating only that it "fixed some performance & hitch related issues affecting some users." It also added "additional crash diagnostic information" to help developers track specific issues, and stated that "additional improvements and investigations based on user feedback are underway."
Reaction to the initial hotfix announcement on Reddit (opens in new tab) was less than positive, with many stating that the hotfix did not improve the performance or stability of the game on their PCs, and in some cases made it even worse.
A second hotfix was released earlier today, bringing the game to version 1.0.1.6 (opens in new tab):
It also does not appear to have brought widespread improvements.
Some users in this thread report that the "Oodle fix (opens in new tab)" has improved performance and shader issues, but the improvements seem to be relatively small.
