Vampire Survivors" beat out "The Elden Ring" and "God of War" to win Best Game at the BAFTAs.

Well done everyone, BAFTA Game Awards (opens in new tab)! After a night in which the prestigious and expensive Sony juggernaut "God of War: Ragnarok" swept six categories and "Elden Ring" won two, the trophy for best game seemed like a dead heat between the two. However, the judges surprised us and awarded the prize to "Vampire Survivors" instead.

"Vampire Survivors" was one of six games vying for the top prize at last night's BAFTAs. Of course, the others were "The Elden Ring" and "GoW: Ragnarok," "Cult of the Lamb," "Stray," and "Marvel Snap."

These are pretty good games! But in the eyes of the BAFTA jury, composed of "industry insiders from a variety of developers and publishers" and chaired by a member of the BAFTA Games Committee, VS managed to beat them all out. My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail.

Last night, "VS" also won another award: the BAFTA Game Design trophy, competing against Cult of the Lamb, Elden Ring, GoW: Ragnarok, Tunic, and Horizon: Forbidden West.

This is of course not the only award given out last night. The full list of awards, nominees and winners is as follows:

Animation

Artistic Achievement

Audio Achievement

Best Game Award

British Game Award

Debut Game Award

Evolving Game Award

Family Award

Game Beyond Entertainment Award

Game Design Award

Multiplayer Award

[32] Music [33] [34] Narrative [35] [36 Original Property [37] [38] Leading Actor [39] [40] Supporting Actor [41] [42] Technical Achievement [43] [44] EE Game of the Year (public vote) [45] [46] And that's it... Vampire Survivors won the award! We are very happy. Last year we gave the Game of the Year award (open in new tab) to "The Elden Ring," so I'm not going to criticize BAFTA if they choose FromSoft's wide-open epic: Ragnarok, which is also quite good. Nevertheless, "Vampire Survivors" is a special, tightly designed piece of work. It's nice to see it get the accolades it deserves on the big, glamorous stage.
