I recently returned to Geoguessr (opens in new tab) and, in the safest way possible, instead of embarrassing myself by not knowing the difference between an Albanian highway and an Alabama highway, I decided to watch some geography geniuses deliver.
But while I'm not very good at figuring out where I am in the real world, I'm a little better at guessing where I am in the fantasy world with the very cool Skyrim Geoguessr-like game on Lostgamer.io (opens in new tab). (opens in tab), where you drop into a random spot on the Skyrim map, look around, place a pin on the minimap, and see how close you are to where you think you are.
Try it yourself and see if you can tell if you are standing outside of Forgan Sul or Forrelhorst, north of Riften or south of Riverwood. Like the actual Geoguessr, this is a really well-designed browser game that allows you to view the world from all 360-degree angles and move around the map by clicking on the on-screen arrows (although you can disable these features). You can play on a timer or at your own pace, and you can either guess alone or invite a friend to play with you.
Lostgamer has been around for a little while and hosts geo-gamer-style games in many gaming worlds, including WoW (open in new tab), Eldenring (open in new tab), Red Dead Redemption 2 (open in new tab), and more. Not a bad way to start the weekend: get lost in the game world for a bit, then fire up the actual game and get lost again.
