Ark 2 (open in new tab) has been delayed until late 2024, according to a post on the official website of the dinosaur survival game; a specific release date for the sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved was not announced by Studio Wildcard, but it was expected to be released this year .
"After careful consideration, we have decided to delay the release of the sequel to the end of 2024. In this case, it will only be available on Xbox, Game Pass and Windows distribution platforms. We have put a lot of thought into delaying ARK 2 for the betterment of the final product and the well-being of our team." This news will disappoint many - we feel it too - but we are confident that this heavy decision is the right one."
Reasons for the delay include the complexity of using the relatively new Unreal Engine 5 and some issues with the game's design itself:
"Also, Ark 2 has been significantly redesigned from the original game, so it is not for everyone (Souls-like combat, primitive weapons, strict third-person mechanics, and an overall "very serious" tone).
I'm not sure how you get a very serious tone with a shirtless Vin Diesel on the back of a dinosaur. Anyway, don't expect any new information on Ark 2 for a while. The post also states that the developer "has no plans to release gameplay/screenshots/videos of Ark 2 this year."
In addition to the delay to 2024, Studio Wildcard has announced a remastered version of Ark: Survival Evolved with Unreal Engine 5, which will be released this August.Ark: Survival Called Ascended, the remastered version will include the base game, plus the "revamped" Survival of the Fittest (Ark's version of Battle Royale) and all "unlicensed" DLC maps.
In addition, there will be an Ark Respawned bundle, which will include both the Ark remaster and Ark 2, as well as access to the Ark 2 closed beta for a month before the game launches. The bundle will cost $50 and will be available this August, but it is not a good idea to buy a bundle of a game that will not be released until late next year. ......
