New "Overwatch 2" Support Recovers with Flowers and Puts You Out of Danger

The new support hero for Overwatch 2 is Lifeweaver, a Thai healer with unprecedented utility.

Blizzard released a screenshot of Lifeweaver on Twitter (opens in new tab) and said more details would be revealed tomorrow, but a PCGamesN article (posted prematurely and now deleted) has revealed Many details have been revealed (opens in new tab).

According to Blizzard, Lifeweaver resembles a World of Warcraft druid. He is committed to helping people with nature, or "Biolight" as it is known in science fiction; Biolight is an alternative technology to Hardlight that Symmetra uses for her Massive Barrier Ultimate and other abilities. He is also the game's first openly pansexual character, which is bound to create some fun pre-game conversations among the existing heroes.

Lifeweaver can use BioLight to create petal platforms on the ground that lift upward when stepped on by enemies or allies. As the Life Weaver rises in the flower elevator, he can jump at its apex to gain height. They can also grab an ally from a distance and pull them toward them.

"The goal was to create another support hero that doesn't rely on aim skills," Alec Dawson told PCGamesN.

"Lifeweaver is designed for players who care a little more about their positioning and their sense of the game.

In addition to its powerful healing, the Lifeweaver can also switch its primary firepower to a Thorn Volley to deal damage. Also, if an engagement is too dangerous, the Rejuvenating Dash allows the player to heal a bit while escaping. If he fails to return alive, Lifeweaver will drop a Parting Gift on the ground, which will heal any enemies or allies who pick it up.

Lifeweaver's ultimate is called Tree of Life, which heals allies in the area by placing a literal tree. The tree is also a destructible object, so it can shield allies from attack.

Dawson said that Lifeweaver is "one of the really hardest heroes to master" but is designed to be accessible to novice support players who may rely on his healing output before learning how to use other abilities effectively He stated.

Dawson said Lifeweaver's utility allows him to work well with flankers like Genji and Reaper. He can burst heel them and pull them out of danger.

When Lifeweaver appears in Overwatch 2's Season 4 Premium Battle Pass later this month, he can lock Lifeweaver into matches along with everyone else.
