PCG's Ted Litchfield was recently looking at Elden Ring's Steam listing (opens in new tab) and discovered something interesting about the game's General Grievous' Wife of the Snow Witch with Arms. The page includes a breakdown of what percentage of the player base has earned certain achievements, and as for the endgame trophies, it turns out that they all love the witch.

Ranni is the name, and the game is to introduce endless cold into the world of Elden Ring. Without intending to get into the deep lore, Ranni's quest line (open in a new tab) is long, complex, and with steps that are often overlooked, taking you to the most secret places in The Lands Between and past several hidden bosses. I'd like to say it's one of the best-kept secrets in the game, but I'm obviously wrong.

25.9% of players have completed The Age of Stars (the ending unlocked in Ranni's quest line), and 19.6% have completed The Elden Road. Of course, this is not just for Steam players, and there are a few caveats. The main one is that some players have played the game twice and achieved both: however, given the sheer size of the Elden Ring, it is likely that the majority of players who have completed the game have only completed it once.

Still, think of poor "Tarnished" who does not have the "Margit the Fell Omen" achievement. This boss is the game's first difficult test of player skill, and yet I'm surprised that only 73.8% of players have the achievement for defeating it; more than a quarter of Steam buyers know little of the Elden Ring's charms, and yet we're all here following the witch around We're running around merrily: Ted tells me "Lanni is 100% good endings," and he's married to her.

The Elden Ring DLC is supposed to come out this year, but Bandai Namco knows it doesn't have to work that hard to sell it and has been mostly silent (open in new tab). Still, some have taken a rather crazy act of devotion, vowing to keep killing FromSoft's bosses until the DLC is announced (opens in new tab). Maybe they just need to relax, unwind, and beat Margit with an acoustic guitar for a change (opens in new tab).
