Luminous Productions, developer of Forspoken (opens in new tab), has announced that it is working on a patch that will meaningfully improve the performance and stability of the game on PC and PlayStation 5. The message comes just one day after the release of the 1.03 patch, which was criticized by many players for not making significant changes.

Complaints about the state of the game on Steam began with the 1.02 patch released last week (opens in new tab), which promised fixes and optimizations, especially for the Steam deck, but left the overall performance issues intact. on February 7. 1.03 patch (opens in new tab) was also released, and while it addressed a few specific bugs, the more widespread issues remained unfixed.

Not all players are experiencing problems with the game, but complaints about performance were evident in a multi-page Steam thread (opens in new tab):

Some users are addressing performance issues prevalent in the game, accurately point out that it takes more time than making minor (but still necessary) adjustments and fixes. However, Luminous Productions and Square Enix have apparently decided that the optics of the situation are not good, and are taking steps to quell the impatience, at least for now.

No word on when this big patch is coming, but initial reactions to the confirmation that it will be done have been generally positive. One Steam user said, "It's not normal to need an RTX4080 to run this game properly. This game is really good.
