Atomic Heart's detailed system requirements revealed.

The Soviet-style shooter "Atomic Heart" (opens in new tab) will be released on February 21. Thanks to the detailed system requirements announced today by developer Mundfish, a suitable target has been set in this regard.

According to these numbers, a fairly low-spec machine will apparently be fine, as long as you don't mind a suitably low-end experience. But even higher settings won't be killer; you won't get the visual glory of 4K, but you won't be demanding a 4K-capable system either.

Game director Robert Bagratuni told WCCF Tech (opens in new tab) that the rated FPS for each spec is the "lowest a player can get during intense combat in the most crowded places," and in most places it will be much higher For example, "a GeForce GTX is a very good choice," he said. For example, with a GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, players will get at least 60 FPS, but the maximum index for most locations will be 100 FPS," Bagratuni said.

"As for memory, you can play with 8 GB RAM if you disable the shader optimization option in the settings. In that case, you might experience some stutter when entering new locations. But if you want to play without stutter, you need at least 12GB of memory so that you can pre-cache PSO to speed up run-time shader compilation."

So, with expectations properly managed, here's the hardware:

We're still not entirely sure what to expect from Atomic Heart, but a recent preview of "a great aesthetic in search of more interesting games" (open in new tab) has tempered some of our initial high expectations. We'll soon find out if it can overcome this slow start and blossom into the weird, alternate-80s Bioshock we've come to expect.
