General
Resident Evil 4", first day DLC flooded the party like it was 2011.

As reported by GamesRadar (opens in new tab), sharp-eyed users of ResetEra (opens in new tab) have noticed that the Microsoft Store lists "Resident Evil 4 Treasure Map Expansion (opens in new tab)" I noticed it. The content pack description reads: "Discover hidden treasures! This map places additional treasures throughout the game. Some treasures can only be obtained this way."

It states. [A quick look at the Microsoft Store page for RE4 (opens in a new tab) shows that there are 13 content packs in total. These packs contain mainly costume and cosmetic options, but also include two new weapons and the aforementioned treasure map.

We've been living in the era of $70 digital deluxe editions for a while now, and this example in particular ... ... wouldn't you feel uncomfortable?" I'm not exactly raging to the heavens that my $60 isn't enough to get me a "romantic (opens in new tab)" or "casual" outfit from 21st century brainiacs Leon Kennedy and Ashley Graham, under the EA umbrella. I'm reminded of the cross-promotional armor and first day DLC that BioWare faced at the peak of its productivity. Blood Dragon Armor (opens in new tab), Warden's Keep, Inferno Armor, Zayed - The Price of Vengeance (opens in new tab): pure unadulterated content.

It is unclear exactly what Treasure Map Expansion's prized treasures are, but my guess is that they are vendor trash to be sold to my beloved Scottish pirate traders in exchange for dubious firearms modifications. In most states in the Union, except Texas, it is highly illegal to give a "spinel" to an unknown masked man in exchange for a high-capacity magazine!

I also have a special aversion to these premium weapons: the Sentinel Nine pistol (open in new tab), which is apparently based on Leon's gun in the CGI Resident Evil movie, and the Skull Shaker shotgun (open in new tab). Like the better weapons in the digital deluxe, they are not organically combined with the progression of the game, but are available for free at the first save point.

But despite all these complaints, I'm still going to buy Resident Evil 4 for the fourth time when it comes out on March 23. No digital deluxe handgun can compare to my precious Red9 (opens in new tab).
