Cards to Replace Skill Trees in "Dead Island 2

It's exciting to think that Dead Island 2 may be released in just a few months, as the sequel to the 2011 holiday tale of someone's misfortune was first announced in 2014 with Yager at the helm, announced in 2016 that Sumo Digital had taken over, and now Dambuster Studios, which started development from scratch four years ago, will cross the finish line.

In a recent Quickfire interview with Game Informer (opens in new tab) (via NME (opens in new tab)), Dambuster's Lead Narrative Designer Khan and Creative Director James Worrall answered the He answered 86 questions about "Dead Island 2," explaining the Los Angeles location, the featured trailer, how the skill system works, and more.

In the original "Dead Island," each character had a skill tree, with three branches covering Combat, Survival, and Fury abilities. When asked if the sequel would also have a skill tree, Kahn said, "There is a skill deck.

Worrall further explained that the skill deck is "a collection of slots that represent all kinds of abilities, and you can swap cards on the fly, whenever you want." Instead of cards being dealt randomly from the ability deck, as in Midnight Sands, the cards are visualized as cards for special kicks, punches, ground slams, etc., and are replaced when, for example, the boss turns out to be immune to an attack he is good at.

Khan chose these cards as one of the most exciting additions to "Dead Island 2." [You can change your skills in the air. You can take off, change your skills, and then land with a different loadout.

"And you can take real risks with loadouts," Worrall added. It really pays off, and sometimes it goes horribly wrong."

Sam Greer played a demo of "Dead Island 2" last year and enjoyed its combat precision. She writes, "This is all thanks to a system for rendering zombie bodies called F.L.E.S.H. (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids)." It took 10 years to create the perfect abbreviation, but it's finally done. This means that, like the recent "Resident Evil" remake, there is utterly disgusting detail when hacking and shooting zombies. It's gross, it's filthy, and it's so excessive that it makes you want to take a shower after playing it.

Dead Island 2 will be available on the Epic Games Store (open in new tab) starting April 28, if all goes as planned.
