Adult Swim drops Justin Royle from Rick and Morty on domestic violence charges

On Tuesday, the official Twitter account for the animated comedy "Rick and Morty" tweeted that Adult Swim has "ended its relationship" with Justin Roland, the show's co-creator and primary voice actor. The announcement came 12 days after news that Roland was charged (open in new tab) with felony domestic violence and false imprisonment over an incident in early 2020.

Roland, who emerged on the comedy and animation scene with "Rick and Morty," founded the game studio Squanch Games, which released "High on Life" (opens in new tab) in December. Roland served as CEO and also voiced Kenny, High on Life's talking alien gun.

No mention was made of who would replace Roland as voice actor for Rick, Morty, and various other characters.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges in October 2020. The case has not yet gone to trial, which was revealed when Rolando attended a pretrial hearing this month.
