As Eurogamer (opens in new tab) reports, Zenimax Online has fired up its publicity machine for The Elder Scrolls Online's upcoming storyline. Various influencers and press representatives received a mysterious letter, which, when viewed under a black light, bears the symbol of the Daedric prince, Hermeas Mora (opens in new tab). You may remember that he was one of the main characters in the Skyrim expansion Dragonborn, and that I harvested souls for him (opens in new tab) to get skill books in Oblivion.

The letter (open in new tab), signed "Leramil the Wise" (open in new tab), calls the reader an "agent" and describes "the most dangerous crisis," "the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance," and the reader must become "the thread that keeps reality itself from unraveling," the usual epic doom quest Contents.

Sage Leramil is not yet known in Elder Scrolls lore, but that is the name of an elf. Morrowind has a city called Blacklight (opens in new tab). Located in the northwestern corner of the province near the border with Skyrim, across the sea from Vvardenfell and Solstheim, the capital of Redoran has not been formally explored in an Elder Scrolls game since Arena in 1994. So for Zenimax Online, it is a fairly blank canvas to do with as it pleases. I don't think anyone would mind if the lore wasn't the same messy blur of polygons that appeared in the first Elder Scrolls game.
