One-time beetle fighting game mode added to Phantom Impact.

HoYoverse is no stranger to creating outlandish mini-games for the various events in "Gensho Ibunroku," and the 3.4 update (open in new tab) is no different in its attempt. A shooting game, a rhythm game, and a trading card game (the latter has even developed into a separate, permanent mode). This time it's a fighting game. A beetle fighting game.

Gio's husband, Itto Shintaki (open in new tab), is at the forefront of yet another event because of his love of beetles and beetle battles. As usual, HoYoverse is not afraid to be terribly wordy in the event name, this time dubbed "The Almighty Arataki Iyengo's Exhilarating Extreme Beetle Battle" According to IGN (opens in new tab), in this mode, the traveler returns to Inazuma and finds the Arataki gang engrossed in beetle fighting and discovers that.

This mode is similar to the 2D fighter, where the beetle has a rushing technique and a backstep, along with a stamina meter. The objective is to watch the stamina bar and lunge at the beetle enough times to take out the enemy's stamina, and then retreat when necessary to avoid damage and regain endurance. The game does a good job of incorporating the joke of Itto Arataki's obsession with beetles and overcoming them in battle.

Your beetle looks much more beetle-like than your opponent's stag beetle, and it's really fun to see HoYoverse use limited-time events like this to experiment with smaller, niche game modes that aren't always present in the wider game.

The "Phantom Impact" 3.4 update will be released on January 18, and will open with banners for Alheisam and Xiao, and a new location in Smel, the "Hadramaves desert."
