Enthralled with the Nintendo Switch-inspired mechanical keyboard.

One of the things I love most about this world is that PC gaming products with ridiculous and impractical designs look cool, and the Megalodon Console 64 keyboard (opens in new tab) fits the bill perfectly by looking like the result of a torrid love affair between the Nintendo Switch Lite and an RGB mechanical keyboard. The Megalodon Console 64 keyboard (opens in new tab) fits the bill perfectly by looking like the result of an intense love affair between the Nintendo Switch Lite and an RGB mechanical keyboard.

This $198 mechanical keyboard has an offset thumbstick/knob combo like the Nintendo Switch's joystick, with four d-pad-like buttons on the left side. There are two small knobs on either end of the keyboard, and a small LCD in the upper right corner.

However, the Console 64 does not appear to be intended to be used as a hybrid keyboard/controller. Photo and video editors will no doubt use this creatively.

The Console 64 is available in the standard Nintendo Switch colors of red/blue, as well as white, soy, yellow, and pink. The keyboard does not come with mechanical switches (open in new tab) or keycaps (open in new tab). Depending on the combination of switches and keycaps, it would cost $300 to purchase these.

Like other Drop items we've featured in the past, these have solid build quality and are an absolute dream to type, assuming they are mechanical switches you like. If the Nintendo-Switch vibe isn't your thing, there are other keyboards out there that are just as expensive and cool.

Pre-orders for the Megalodon Console 64 Keyboard cost $198 and are scheduled to ship on April 28, 2023. As with all Drop products, if not enough people pre-order, the pre-order will be cancelled and refunded. That is what the "Drop" is all about.
