General
This MSI RTX 4070 Ti graphics card currently has an MSRP of $799.

Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (opens in new tab) has been available for a week now. Not only is it still available, but it is also available at the official launch price of $799.

This rather implies that the new GPU is not flying off the shelves. But for whatever reason, the MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB appears to be a decent value from Newegg.

In terms of pure raster performance, it is slightly slower than the AMD Radeon RX 7900XT. However, its graphics card costs about $100 more. Also, AMD GPUs are not as good as the RTX 4070 Ti in terms of ray tracing performance.

And then there is Nvidia's suite of DLSS technologies to consider. Indeed, AMD is developing its own frame generation technology, but there is no clear timeline for when it will appear or how good it will be.

As an overall proposition, the MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB looks very attractive. Alternatives in this rough price range include Nvidia's older generation Ampere RTX 3080 10GB (open in new tab) for $699 and AMD's older generation RX 6950 XT (open in new tab), also for $699.

On balance, I would probably lean toward the 4070 Ti. It is a bit more expensive than these two older boards. However, it is a bit faster than traditional rendering and has the added goodness of DLSS 3.

Whatever your preference, it's nice to see that there are now GPU choices available at a decent price point. We would still like to see something attractive for under $500. But things are moving in the right direction.
