Creepy Pasta Game in Animal Crossing is Perfect for Friday the 13th

Today is Friday the 13th. What better way to make yourself a little nervous than to take a lunch break and dive into what can only be described as a playable "Animal Crossing" creepypasta?

Harvest Festival 64 is the result of a 72-hour Ludum Dare game jam, created by German hobbyist developer Warrrkus (open in new tab), with music by another solo game developer, Modus Interactive (open in new tab The music was added by.

Warrrkus decided to create a 10-minute Animal Crossing-inspired game with a twist, prompted only by the word "harvest." It may all start out by echoing the adorable aesthetic of Nintendo's first foray into cozy sim games, but don't be too fooled. Things take a dark turn and become real Creepypasta-level stuff. It's perfect for a quick lunch break or to get a little spooky while your coffee brews.

Harvest Festival 64 does a great job of capturing the old "Animal Crossing" feel with water and grass textures without any grid-based BS. Perhaps the only thing that is wildly off the mark is the fact that you are, inexplicably, the only human in a world full of anthropomorphic talking animals. The music, too, is "Animal Crossing"-like, with its gentle accordion and laid-back atmosphere.

Harvest Festival 64 can be checked out for free at itch.io (opens in a new tab).
