Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam

Even more so if you enjoy streaming on Twitch, YouTube, or other platforms. The Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam is the latest contender to jump into the world of mid-range webcams, offering all the fun of proper resolution and fps output in a good-looking housing with convenient connectivity.

It makes sense to touch on the details of the Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam to see what its output looks like. Like most webcams in this price range, it can record at 1080p/60fps or up to 1440p/30fps. Testing the video recorded one Saturday afternoon, it looks pretty good, as you can see from the sample footage below.

That said, while the detail may not have been as noticeably improved in the sample footage, it must be said that 1440p offered a bit more clarity in the recording.

There is also an option to record at 1080/60fps, which has the advantage of increasing the number of frames that can be played back and smoothing out the motion of the video, instead of having a lower resolution. Furthermore, recording at 1080p is likely to be more stable than recording at 1440p, and as a matter of fact, the lower resolution will provide more consistent performance and not much sacrifice in terms of overall image quality. Personally, I would prefer to keep 1080p/60fps for more consistent performance, but the addition of QHD resolution output is a welcome addition to the selection.

Interestingly, unlike other webcams in this price range, there is no mention of this Toucan webcam having automatic low-light correction; recording with OBS adds warmth to the tone of the webcam image and, since the wall I was recording on was beige, a bit more The colors seem to have been corrected to be more vibrant.

The omni-directional microphone picked up my voice clearly, albeit with some clipping and judder noise.

Design-wise, this Toucan webcam is a bit different from others I have used and tested in the past, with a handy swivel adjustment feature. It has a convenient swivel adjustment feature. When the webcam is not in use, the webcam can simply be pointed downwards, and as long as the webcam lens is pointing down, it will not be peeked at. Also, as long as the webcam lens is facing down, it will not be peeked at. Because of the swivel, a privacy shutter is not necessary, but it might have been nice to have as a secondary barrier.

The actual camera module is mounted on its own little stand and can be used without screwing anything into the 1/4" screw mount on the bottom and is up and running almost instantly Toucan provides a standard monitor mount for this webcam Toucan offers a standard monitor mount for this webcam, which I tested by securing it to the top of my MacBook. I used this mount to secure it to the top of my MacBook, the connection was secure, and I did not have to worry about the camera falling off.

Low light test video

It is constructed of a fairly solid feeling plastic and, unlike other affordable webcams, does not feel cheap or scratchy. The Toucan webcam has a reassuring heft to it, and despite its larger size compared to more traditional looking webcams, this particular option does not feel bulky. If you're taking a dedicated webcam with you when you travel, you can probably keep it in your bag. The fact that the USB Type-C cable is detachable also reflects the concept of a more portable webcam. Other webcams have a fixed cable, which can be a bit cramped, to say the least, in the event of a malfunction.

Like the Streamplify Cam we saw earlier this year (opens in new tab), this is a simple plug-and-play webcam that requires no additional software. With this plug-and-play nature in mind, it's perhaps no surprise that this Toucan webcam appears right within the settings of capture programs like OBS. If you are an up-and-coming streamer and want a webcam that is easy to set up, this is a solid choice.

So, to summarize: the Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam is an all-around webcam that can be used for both conferencing and streaming, providing good video output in both bright and dark locations, with a rugged housing and easy connectivity. The addition of a convenient USB Type-C connection is great, and the omni-directional microphone picks up properly. It should be a convenient option for streamers who want an easy-to-use, high-performance webcam without the need for additional software.
