I'm worried that Alienware's new 500Hz gaming monitors will make me a better shooter.

At what point do monitor refresh rates become too high, is the difference between 240Hz and 144Hz a thing of the past? Or 144Hz' Alienware, we think it could be much higher, and 500Hz is a "new category of speed" for gaming monitors; given that other brands like Asus ROG have also announced their own 500Hz displays ( open in new tab), we can expect this new "speed category" to be quite a battle in 2023.

At CES 2023, Alienware unveiled its latest gaming monitor, the AW2524H, the company's first 500Hz gaming monitor. This is the company's first 500Hz gaming monitor. Technically, this is a native 480Hz gaming monitor that can be overclocked to achieve 500Hz (via single DP). This 1080p 24.5" IPS gaming monitor has a fast response time of 0.5ms in GtG and 1ms in "extreme mode". The monitor also delivers 240 Hz via a pair of HDMI ports.

On the design front, the AW2524H uses a smaller hexagonal base instead of the two protruding feet currently used on monitors (open in new tab) Alienware has also eliminated the RGB ring normally found on the back of the monitor and added a retractable headset hanger They are adding one. Fair trade if you ask me.

Other features include G-Sync support, VESA Display HDR 400, and Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer. More importantly, there are six USB ports, which every gaming monitor should have.

There is no getting around the fact that this product is made for competitive gaming, where speed matters and nothing else. Therefore, unless you have a fervent desire to play Valorant or CS . you will not be able to enjoy gaming at top speed: unless you have a fervent desire to play Valorant or CS : Go at the highest speed imaginable, 500Hz is overkill for anyone It may be. If you want size, image quality, and a pretty speedy display, check out Alienware's gorgeous curved QD-OLED display, the AW3423DW. (opens in new tab)

The Alienware AW2524H will be available in North America on March 31 and in China on February 8. Pricing is yet to be determined, but it is expected to be in the "not cheap" category. Between these and LG's new OLED 240Hz monitors (open in new tab), 2023 looks to be an exciting year for gaming monitors looking to straddle the line between speed and image quality.
