Noctua postpones new 140mm fan for about a year due to "strict quality standards".

Noctua had planned to release its next generation of 140mm fans by the end of 2022, but that has passed. Today, this PC cooling company, famous for its brown color palette, says it will have to wait a little longer for these next-generation units. Almost a year, in fact.

In a statement, the company said it has encountered "unforeseen production-level issues" that must be investigated. The company said that this necessitated a rerun of the accelerated life testing that it normally performs to ensure that its products, which are known for being of very high quality, are maintained. These tests take several months.

Taking all of this into account, Noctua expects to launch its next generation 140mm fans in Q4 2023.

What this means is that products that rely on an upgraded version of this next-generation fan, namely the new NH-D15 air cooler, will also be delayed as a result. The updated roadmap can be found on the Noctua website (opens in new tab).

The NH D15 is one of my personal favorite air coolers in its existing design, and it is a shame that it will be delayed, for the same reason that I ranked the Noctua NF-S12B redux-1200 fan as the all-around best PC fan (opens in new tab).

After all, there are many other choices in the fan world, including Noctua's excellent current 140mm fan (opens in new tab), but also Be Quiet's recent new product! (opens in new tab) and Corsair's (opens in new tab) popular products.
