Warzone 2 helicopter randomly explodes

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has provided its share of hilarious glitches, but the hacked airship was probably my favorite bug of 2022 (open in new tab). Helicopters are currently an integral part of the game and probably the best way to fly around Al Mazrah, but players are currently encountering a bug that causes vehicles to spontaneously explode while in flight.

The exploding helicopter bug can be seen in the following video by *checks notes* latenitelover. It is not clear what may have happened in the video in question, although it does not seem to be widespread in the game. The explosion is so instantaneous that it makes one think the player jumped into an invisible wall.

Another player commented that this was a glitch also seen in the original "Warzone," and while I do not recall that particular issue, helicopter problems were a minor theme in the Battle Royale series and "Warzone 2." A staple at the time of release was that this helicopter would fly over skyscrapers and somehow kill the player in the process:

In general, the problem tended to be related to the interaction (or lack of interaction) between the helicopter and the landscape, with the vehicle slipping through objects, behaving in predictable and impossible behavior, or, as in this case, there are many instances where the helicopter does not actually fly anywhere, but simply appears to twitch in mid-air.

This problem has not yet appeared on the game's Trello board (open in new tab). However, it does say there that many PC users experiencing the problem may want to consider updating their GPU drivers, and Raven claims that this will "dramatically reduce" crashes and other problems. Whether it will stop the spontaneous explosion of choppers, though, I don't know.
