Custom keycaps are a great way to add personality to your keyboard at a relatively low cost. Craftsmanship runs deep in the keycap hole (opens in new tab), and you can find all kinds of caps to suit different setups and preferences. There are ultra-bright ceramic RGB keycaps (opens in new tab), or you can go in a completely different direction with Noctua's lovely brown and beige keys (opens in new tab). With so many options, keycaps make a great gift for the PC gamer in your life.

While the dino caps (open with new tabs) that might bite your fingers off are a good choice, the friendlier rubber duck keycaps are currently popular. Of course, they work great with keyboards like the Ducky One 3 (opens in new tab). Ducky action with Ducky.

Duckeys (opens in new tab) is a Boston cap retailer that specializes in duck keycaps. They are known for their bright yellow little rubber ducks, sometimes in hats and often with a stick of some sort. Yellow has never been my favorite color, so it's nice to see that Duckies has finally released a second line of cute little keycaps in a variety of shades.

The ducks in the new series are still solid colors, aside from the beak and eyes, but this time you can choose from a rainbow of color options (open in new tab). This makes it a little easier to match the ducks to your setup. Imagine a rainbow-colored duck on your keyboard.

The new Mystery Box (opens in a new tab) option is also very cool, and special kudos to the frozen ice ducks that look like ice pokemon. quackbar's spacebar option will also keep you entertained for longer, but is currently sold out, so stocking birthday gift might be better than an assortment of stockings.

What's even cooler about these keycaps is that they can be quacked. You have to get the Duckeys Voicebox software (opens in new tab) from the website. But once installed and set up, the ducks should start quack-wacking at the same time your fingers crush them into oblivion.

Ducky is a relatively inexpensive little gift, starting at $10 US, regardless of the color you prefer, although prices range. The Mystery Key Cap Pack is a bit more expensive at US$12 and includes a duck in a random hat from the assigned series.

If you still can't get over how cute these little keycaps are, check out Duckeys' Instagram (opens in new tab) to see them in action. Also, check out our list of holiday gifts for PC gamers (opens in new tab).
