Blizzard Announces Dragonflight Trial for World of Warcraft Subscribers

World of Warcraft's (open in new tab) new Dragonflight expansion launched at the end of November, introducing new races, new classes, new continents, and the ability to own customizable drakes and master the art of dragon riding. Now, Blizzard is giving existing players who have yet to set foot in the world of Dragonflight the opportunity to try out the expansion through a new limited-time trial.

In a Blizzard "blue post" (opens in new tab), the WoW developer states, "For a limited time, players who do not own Dragonflight but have a subscription or active game time can play the new expansion as Draktir Evoker starting today! can do so," he stated. Draktir are humanoid dragons, a new playable race in WoW, and Evokar are ranged attack casters who specialize in dealing damage or healing allies.

The trial will allow players to explore Draktil's Evoker starting zone, Forbidden Reach, and develop their characters up to level 63 through the first chapter of the Dragonflight campaign." During the trial, players will be able to experience all the quests, unlock and learn dragonriding, take their profession to the next level, and even experience two new dungeons, Ruby Lifepool and the Noqhud Siege."

If you have a subscription, Dragonflight is worth a try." Dragonflight is like a new foundation for a very old video game," writes Luke Winkie in his review (opens in new tab). "Blizzard has put a lot of attention into reworking an outdated and atrocious system while improving on gameplay traps that were neglected back in 2004... It's not the best thing Blizzard has done with WoW, but overall, for players who have fallen by the wayside It would be a great road back.

The expansion trial will run until January 2, 2023, after which players will need to purchase the expansion to continue their Dragonflight adventure.
