Fortnite" to Earn $1 Million in 3 Hours This Weekend

MrBeast, YouTube's leading authority on the throwaway genre, is collaborating with Fortnite; MrBeast's Extreme Survival Challenge (opens in new tab) will take place this Saturday, with Fortnite players competing for a $1 million prize in a short period of time. They can compete for a chance to win a special in-game umbrella, even if they don't come in first place. This is almost always a good thing.

The competition will begin on MrBeast's Extreme Survival Challenge island (accessible from the Fortnite Competitive row) on December 17 at 12:00 pm ET (9:00 am/ 5:00 pm CST) and last for three hours. Players can try as many times as they like within that time, and must "avoid danger, collect coins, and survive extreme challenges" in order to increase their score.

After the time is up, rankings are determined according to the best run scores, with the first place player receiving $1 million. Meanwhile, the top 100,000 players with the best score will get a golden "Beastbrella Umbrella" in the game.

You have until this Saturday to practice. The map opens today at 9:00 a.m. (2:00 p.m. CST), so you can prep as much as you want. Note: To be eligible, you must have an Epic account with 2FA enabled and verified, as well as an account level (which can be found in the Career tab of Fortnite) of 15 or higher. Russian and Turkish players are not eligible for the prize money either. In-game cosmetics are still playable.

Epic has also added a number of MrBeast-themed items, emotes, and costumes to the game. In addition, a series of quests called MrBeast's Extreme Survival Quests will be available starting today alongside the island, with themed loading screens and the chance to unlock the MrBeast Gaming Spray. The quests only last until January 4.
