In "High on Life," you can watch an entire 90-minute movie for some reason.

Have you ever been playing a game and thought, "Damn, I wish I could watch the 1994 sci-fi horror comedy "Tammy and the T-Rex" right now on this game: ...... " have you ever thought to yourself, "I'd love to see that. No, High on Life (open in new tab) might convince you to think that way.

As Reddit user u/xJ8N0W331x (open in new tab) points out, Rick and Morty creator Justin Roland's game studio, Squanch Games, has a new shooter game that lets you watch the movie from start to finish. You can watch it. According to another Reddit post, this is the uncensored 2019 version of Vinegar Syndrome. Eight minutes have been added from the original version, making it 90 minutes long, with Paul Walker getting his brains shoved into a robotic T-REX. Disclaimer: I had never heard of this film before today, and after reading the synopsis I still don't know much about it.

This film is an odd choice and I have no idea why they picked it up. Perhaps to compensate for the inability to pause and rewatch the film since it is viewed through a different medium. It also allows one to sit on the couch for an optimal viewing experience.

If you really want to watch "Tammy and the T-Rex" right now, you may want to use a streaming service; according to comments on a Reddit post, the screen goes dark within minutes of starting, or the screen goes dark after an ad appears and you have to watch the movie again The problem is that the screen goes black after a few minutes, or the screen goes black after an advertisement and you have to rewatch the movie again. Not that it's going to stop me from watching the first 30 minutes over and over again.

There is no sense of accomplishment in watching a movie all the way through. It is simply meant to be enjoyed, and if you don't want to leave the game for 90 minutes, you are under no obligation to do so. Nor is "High on Life" the first game to insert a movie into the game world; as a helpful commenter on Reddit pointed out, in the console-only shooter "The Darkness," players can play "To Kill a Mockingbird" and " The Man with the Golden Arm" in their entirety. The original "Destroy All Humans" included the B-movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space," but the remake uses "Teenagers from Outer Space" instead. Of course, if you want to experience the OG movies, there is a mod (opens in new tab) that replaces them, but.
