Speculation is rife that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (opens in new tab), the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, will be released before March 31, 2023. It will be released: the Steam page leaked a specific release date of March 16, 2023, which seems to confirm this.

The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor page had been available since July, but the release date was only vaguely stated as "coming soon" until a specific date was posted earlier today. the Steam page also includes other information such as new game settings, expanded gameplay options and a deluxe edition that included various cosmetic bonuses, and of course, pre-purchase bonus cosmetics, among other details. However, the game is not yet available for actual pre-order, only on request.

"This story-driven single-player title takes place five years after Star Wars: Jedi: The Steam page says, "Five years after The Fallen Order, Kal's desperate battle as the galaxy sinks further into darkness. Driven to the far reaches of the galaxy by the Empire, Kal will find himself surrounded by threats old and new. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Kal will face the galaxy's darkest hour.

"No longer a Padawan, Kal has grown into a man and a powerful Jedi Knight. With the memory and expectations of the Jedi Order on his shoulders, his crusade against the Empire has become more dangerous. With dark times looming and enemies old and new surrounding him, Kal must decide how far he will go to save those closest to him.

Jedi: Fallen Order's "cinematic combat" is enhanced with new Force abilities and lightsaber combat styles, while new and familiar planets and large exploration areas offer "much to discover off the beaten path, and players who venture beyond the horizon can find hidden rewards."

Coincidentally or not, Geoff Keighley announced shortly after the leak that the first "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" gameplay trailer will be shown at The Game Awards on December 8, he tweeted. Will anything else be announced?

The expectation that Jedi: Survivor would be released by the end of March was prompted by EA's November 2021 investor conference call in which it said it planned to release a "major IP (open in new tab)" before that date. Of course, this is still not 100% official, and in fact, less than an hour after the details were posted on Steam, they were all taken down: the page is now back to "coming soon" status; we've asked EA for comment and will update if we hear back.
