Latest Intel Arc Beta Driver Improves GPU Performance in 13 Games

Following the full driver release (opens in new tab) with performance upgrades, Intel has released a new beta driver (opens in new tab) with enhancements for over 13 games. From DX9 classics like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to the latest DX12 titles, including Dying Light 2, the new beta drivers are available for all Intel Arc A770 boards, from the A310 to the top-of-the-line Compatible with Intel Arc discrete graphics (opens in new tab).

Ostensibly, the "Game On" driver release coincides with the launch of WoW: Dragonflight, Warhammer 40K: Darktide, Midnight Suns, The Callisto Protocol, and Game On" drivers were released to coincide with the release of Unreal Engine 5.1, the latest version of Fortnite.

For a GPU architecture that has had very ups and downs in terms of game performance, the introduction of new drivers that aim to improve performance across a broader set of games is certainly a welcome development.

Intel has not quantified the performance gains offered, perhaps because this is not the final release of the driver. The last official release offered as much as a 19% improvement for some games, so hopefully this latest beta driver will offer something similar when it is finally released in full.

The full release notes and driver download are here (opens in a new tab).
