Ubisoft's Return to Steam Continues with Surprise Appearance of Immortals Fenyx Rising
[Just two days after Assassin's Creed Valhalla made its official return to Ubisoft's Steam (opens in new tab), the Immortals Fenyx Rising (opens in new tab) store has launched. The game comes in two configurations (the same ones available on Epic and Ubisoft Connect): standard and gold, with the standard coming with three scenario DLCs, bonus quests, and cosmetic goodies.

Immortals' sudden unannounced appearance on Steam comes as a bit of a surprise: when it was announced two weeks ago that AC: Valhalla, Roller Champions (open in new tab), and Anno 1800 (open in new tab) would return to the Steam service When the announcement was made, Ubisoft told PCG that they are "always evaluating ways to bring our games to different audiences, wherever they are," but made it clear that only those three games specifically would be returning. However, Immortals is currently listed before Roller Champion and Anno are released on Steam.

There are still plenty of Ubisoft games restricted to the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect, including Watch_Dogs Legion, The Division 2, and Far Cry 6. But for those of us who remain hopelessly committed to keeping all our games in one library, Immortals' sudden reappearance in the store may mean that Ubisoft may begin posting its back catalog with less fanfare and more rapid Perhaps it means that Ubisoft may begin to post their back catalog more quickly.

"Immortals" is currently only listed as "Coming soon," so who knows when the game will actually be released on Steam. Nevertheless, it will almost certainly be after the release of Roller Champions on December 13, and probably after Anno 1800's currently unpublished Steam page comes to life.

If you haven't played it since its release in December 2020, Immortals is an open-world action game from Ubisoft set in a world based on Greek mythology. Basically, it's the studio's take on "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" (which, in many ways, is Nintendo's take on Ubisoft's open-world game; who knows who the real innovator is? While not perfect, we enjoyed the game and gave it a 72% in our Immortals Fenyx Rising review (opens in new tab), complimenting its energy, humor, and vibrant world.
