The Witcher 3" Next-Gen Update Applies Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Generation Upgrade

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt next-generation update (opens in new tab) is less than a week away from its December 14 release, with news of full support for Nvidia's DLSS 3 (opens in new tab) frame rate acceleration technology, including upscaling and frame generation. The news jumped out.

DLSS 3 support is also thanks to the new Nvidia GeForce Game Ready (opens in new tab) graphics driver, which also supports Portal with RTX and Jurassic World Evolution 2. Clearly, if you are not part of a major franchise, you are nothing in this gaming business.

In any case, from a graphics technology perspective, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is loaded with new features beyond the DLSS 3 sizzle.

On the content side, the update includes new Netflix-inspired quests, new Geralt equipment, and new costumes for the Dandelion and Nilfgaardian soldiers, all inspired by the Netflix live action series. This is a cross-fertilization of multiple genres, mega-franchises, and global illumination. It's brilliant.

The next-gen update will include a variety of community-created mods, fixes to existing quests, a new in-game camera mode, quick signcasting options, map filtering, and a way to hide that damned minimap!

The previous description is in the "game" section.

As noted above, today we also have Portal with RTX (opens in new tab), a beautifully raytraced update of Valve's iconic puzzle platforming epic, and Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Malta Expansion (open in new tab). [The latter adds DLSS 3 support and a variety of new features, including smaller species attacks and eating behavior, five campaign levels that can now be played as challenge maps, new skin and pattern colors for some dinosaurs, improved quality of life, and more.

What more could one ask for in an add-on to an evolutionary sequel to a game franchise inspired by the movie based on the novel of the same name? That's all.
