Street Fighter 6" release date set for June

Street Fighter 6 (opens in new tab) has been set for June 2, 2023. This date was leaked just before the Today's Game Awards and confirmed by a new trailer that aired during the awards pre-show.

The trailer, which can be seen in the tweet embedded below (opens in a new tab), also features the first gameplay of Deejay, Manon, Marisa and JP.

Not at E3 earlier this year, Wes was able to play a build of "Street Fighter 6" and was impressed: "Capcom is finally ahead of the competition," he said.

Notably in Street Fighter 6 is a new meter called Drive, which starts at full and can be used for special moves and attacks. Once the Drive meter is completely empty, the meter must be completely refilled in order to be used again, complicating decisions about how aggressively to use it, hopefully in an interesting way.

Visually exciting as well, colorful ink splatters as the fighters execute their special moves. This flair contrasts nicely with the somewhat moody look of the upcoming "Tekken 8," which was detailed at The Game Awards (opens in new tab).

The Street Fighter 6 beta will run from December 16-19. Due to the number of people selling access codes during the last closed beta, Capcom is restricting them a bit more strictly. However, if you participated in the first beta, you will automatically have access to this one.
