Steam Deck available in several Asian markets starting December 17

Valve's hit pocket gaming console, the Steam Deck (opens in new tab), will be available in several Asian markets starting December 17. The lucky ones are Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, where it can be ordered from the Komodo website (opens in new tab) in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB configurations.

Since its launch in February, the Steam Deck has had limited availability worldwide due to high demand and pandemic-induced supply chain issues. At launch, the product was shipped only to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union. Waiting times have been intermittent, and information is still awaited on availability in some regions, including Australia (open in new tab).

Just last month we reported that the Steam Deck and docking station were finally available in the US without pre-order (opens in new tab). This is a big improvement, as the official Steam Deck website in the U.S. and U.K. currently has a one- to two-week wait time for orders.

However, Valve also acknowledged in a blog post (opens in new tab) that this could change "if the order volume for a particular model of Steam Deck becomes higher than our ability to ship in a timely manner."

Pricing varies by region; see Komodo's site for details.
