The "Unkillable Demon King" of esports puts an end to speculation and stays put.

League of Legends megastar Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok has ended months of speculation over his future by renewing a three-year contract with South Korea's T1. The player is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in LoL history, and there have been recent reports that western organizations, including Team Liquid, have been sniffing around.

T1 announced the news on social media, posting an image of the player along with the epic nickname "The Unkillable Demon King." That seems a bit too sweet for that, but what about the mid-rainer?

T1 CEO Joe Marsh said: "We are honored and grateful that Faker has chosen to spend the next three years at T1! This free agent process has been beneficial for both of us and we are excited that Faker will be leading this organization for many years to come. For Faker, T1 is home. I thank the entire Lee family for making this moment possible."

Faker has been with T1 (formerly SK Telecom T1) since 2013. Over the course of his career, our unsung friend has won two more Worlds titles and two MSI titles, and although he has faltered on the trophy front in recent years, T1 continues to reach finals (and Faker continues to perform exceptionally well on the big stage).

Despite the wonderful world of esports, Faker is only 26 years old. Believe it or not, depending on how you look at it, that means he is six years older than the oldest of his T1 teammates.

Faker has been in the news recently for reasons other than the game. He and T1 decided that enough was enough in response to the online abuse directed at the player (and his mother).
