System Specs for Sci-Fi Horror Epic "Callisto Protocol" Will Terrorize Your PC

The system requirements for the sci-fi gore-fest "Callisto Protocol" (opens in new tab) have been released on the game's official Twitter page. And it makes for terrifying reading for your PC.

For a full blood splattering experience on Ultra settings, you'll need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 (opens in new tab) or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (opens in new tab); down to Max, a Radeon RX 6700 XT (opens in new tab (opens in new tab) or RTX 2070 is deemed sufficient. In both cases, 16 GB of RAM is required.

Ultra CPU specs are set to AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or Intel Core i9 9900K. However, the question remains whether meeting these specs will suffer from the widely reported stuttering issues with Steam (opens in new tab).

Furthermore, Sean stated that Callisto ran at less than 60 fps with ray tracing enabled on an RTX 3080. In other words, this is clearly a beast of a game.

It is also worth noting that the Callisto project does not support Nvidia's DLSS scaling technology (opens in new tab). However, AMD's FSR (open in new tab) does provide upscaling for the game engine. It works on both AMD and Nvidia GPUs, but Shaun found that it does not provide as large a performance boost as one would normally expect, especially when FSR is set to performance mode.

Still, when rendering the most realistic sweaty face ever (open in new tab) in real time, it is obvious that the frame rate takes a hit.

The Callisto Project Project is out today, December 2. Feel free to get covered in bloody sweat, with or without ray tracing enabled.
