Destiny 2" players can't make up matches with anyone, days before the end of the season.

Four days before the end of Destiny 2: Season of Plunder (opens in new tab), players have been unable to make matches at all, and more troubling server issues have surfaced.

The problem began occurring in both Destiny and Destiny 2 after yesterday's maintenance. Players were stuck in the matchmaking screen in all modes, and some were unable to even complete an activity solo without being disconnected; according to a post on Bungie's forums (opens in a new tab), the most common error code seems to be weasel Tim Clark, who enjoys Destiny 2, has also experienced this problem, getting a bee error within minutes of loading HELM.

Bungie took the servers offline yesterday to begin fixing the problem. The downtime was then extended and everything was restored earlier today. Despite the lengthy downtime, the developer admitted that the matchmaking issue has not yet been fixed." Players can participate in other players' activities, but not other matchmaking," Bungie Help tweeted (opens in new tab)." We will continue to post updates as we investigate."

After about 10 hours of silence, Bungie finally made another update confirming that they have found a nasty bug causing the problem." The issues causing the servers, matchmaking, and terrible error codes have been identified and fixed; Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 will be back online soon. Please wait for the update."

Not surprisingly, people are not too thrilled about how long the glitch has been going on, especially this close to the end of the season. 'Looks like Bungie broke the game ... Again," one forum user posted (opens in new tab). Responses to a Reddit thread (opens in new tab) about this maintenance seem to be venting their frustration at the constant weasel-word errors. It also seems that every time a player disconnects, their inventory resets, returning them to their pre-maintenance state.

This is a pretty serious problem, and I can't remember Destiny 2 ever being this broken, and it's not the best timing for Bungie's shooter, which has also been facing a fairly rapid player decline lately. Of course, it doesn't help that the game is five years old and in the midst of releases like Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2, but neither does the fact that the servers are downright dysfunctional. Hopefully players won't have to wait too long to get their hands on the last Season Challenge, as the servers will be back online and fixes will be made.
