Creative Director of Halo Infinite Multiplayer Leaves 343 Industries

Tom French, creative director of multiplayer for "Halo Infinite," celebrated his last day at 343 Industries on Friday, December 2, 2022. French worked on "Halo" for almost 11 1/2 years.

"It has been an honor to be a part of a game I loved so much as a player and admired so much as a developer, and I could not be more proud of my time at 343," French said in a tweet announcing his departure (opens in new tab). 343 While at Industries, French worked on Halo's Forge feature as a mission designer and left as Halo Infinite's multiplayer creative director.

French was a familiar face to Halo fans with his development diary and multiplayer features. He has yet to say what he plans to do next or whether he will stay in game development.

French's departure is the latest in a series of public personnel changes at 343 Industries. Studio head and founder Bonnie Ross left the company in September (opens in new tab) due to a family illness, followed shortly after by David Berger, developer of Halo Infinite's Slipspace Engine. Halo Infinite (opens in new tab), however, has not had an easy time. We've had headlines like "Halo Infinite (open in new tab) got the features it should have launched with" for over a year now, and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty said last month that the launch of Halo Infinite was a "goal stumbled across the line,"

and said it was like "stumbling across the line.

Not to mention the cooperative campaign (opens in new tab), which finally came to fruition last month, a year after its launch. Halo Infinite was the first game in the series' history to launch without a co-op campaign mode.
