'Modern Warfare 2' Player Turns Deadly Orangutan in New 'G-Walking' Glitch

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players have done it again, not content with ignoring the laws of God and nature with MW2's Superman Trick (opens in new tab), they have now developed an irritating and nightmarish movement technique they call the "G-Walk". You can see what I mean below.

Found by Jake Lackey on Twitter (opens in new tab), this trick allows players to alternate between prone and standing positions without the need for cumbersome "animations" in between. As you can imagine, it is quite difficult to target them with the limited human organ.

While I am "all for" this kind of glitch-based madness in massively multiplayer games, not everyone embraces G-walks with the same enthusiasm. While some players are amused (and some are desperately trying to replicate this glitch), many are frustrated by the antics. A few of the replies to Lackey's tweet lament that he is not playing the game properly, and a few worry that this trick will ruin the game.

To be fair, they have a point, and I don't doubt that this glitch is already on some to-do list for a future patch for MW2. Still, it's hard not to be a little amused when your opponent, dressed from head to toe in high-tech military gear, suddenly gets down on all fours and starts bounding toward you like a werewolf under a full moon. It would be sad to see that go.

This is far from the first bug in MW2, and it certainly won't be the last: even before G Walking, Modern Warfare 2 players had problems with maps containing huge invisible walls (open in new tab), and issues surrounding the game's friend list (open in new tab), And players themselves had to contend with a UI that was so indecipherable that they began to think of alternatives (open in new tab). It's a good thing that despite all of this, Modern Warfare 2 is so well done (open in new tab), or else people would have gotten bored before they got a chance to turn into a killer monkey with a glitch.
