If you're thinking about making your next PC headset wireless, consider this: the Steelseries Arctis 7X (opens in new tab) 2.4GHz wireless headset is an excellent piece of cordless audio hardware.

The Arctis 7X is an update to the equally excellent previous Arctis 7 model, adding compatibility with Xbox consoles, something the original lacked. For those who like to game on the go, it can also connect with Android devices and the Nintendo Switch; the 2.4GHz wireless connection promises to deliver highly detailed lossless audio. The retractable ClearCast two-way microphone is "Discord Certified (opens in new tab)," meaning it has passed several tests and been given the thumbs up by the fine folks at Discord.

When the 7X debuted in 2020, we did some testing ourselves and found it absolutely lived up to the hype, maintaining the ski goggle headband and AirWave ear cushions used in the entire Arctis lineup and making it "the most comfortable gaming headset," and the headset drivers are "one of the cleanest gaming audio" of any gaming headset we tested.

"Clarity and separation are pin-sharp, and everything stands out clearly, especially in games," writes the 90% review (opens in new tab).

"Positional accuracy is so high that it's easy to pinpoint the source of the audio, even in the middle of the action. This is ideal for competitive shooters with lots of gunfire.

"The Arctis 7X inherits all the best aspects of the Arctis 7 and replaces the Arctis 7 on our list of best wireless headsets. It has excellent audio performance, a great microphone, and supreme comfort. But what makes the Arctis 7 truly shine is its versatility.

I'm considering going wireless myself: I currently have an Arctis 3 Bluetooth and love it.
