Black Friday deals on AMD graphics cards made me seriously reconsider my eight-year allegiance to Nvidia.

Readers of PCG's Weekend Questions (opens in new tab) will be familiar with my GPU struggles, but for those who don't know, well, it's a combination of circumstances that sometimes require me to turn my PC upside down to get the graphics card working. But I need a new GPU, and some of AMD's deals have me tempted to switch from the green team.

All of the Black Friday GPU deals (open in new tab) are arrayed and constantly updated, but I'm going to highlight a few specific deals that will make you reconsider your loyalty to Nvidia.

First up is the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT version of the XFX (opens in new tab); while not an RTX 4090, it is a solid choice for 1080p and 1440p gaming, and the RX 6700 XT currently occupies third place on our best graphics cards list (opens in new tab) open in a new tab), occupying third place. I spend most of my time playing Crusader Kings 3 (opens in new tab) on a 1440p monitor and am confident that with this card I won't have to turn my PC upside down.

If I'm content to live with 1080p for a while, I could even get an RX 6650 XT (opens in new tab).

On the other hand, if I get the urge to play in 4K, I can always buy this card's big brother: the "XFX Speedster SWFT 319 RX 6900 XT" (opens in new tab) (at this point I'm sure whoever named it that is just kidding us ). Another card that made little sense at MSRP, but is more compelling when discounted by $200.

These are both RDNA 2 cards, not the latest and greatest RDNA 3 technology (opens in new tab); Nvidia's latest generation of cards is so huge and expensive that we have to admit it's hard not to coat these cards.
